Erik Lodge Coach Development Clinics
Hello IMHA Coaches and Assistant Coaches,
IMHA is providing our coaching staff members with a premier skills development opportunity. On January 10th and 11th, Erik Lodge of the Red Deer Rebels will be attending four IMHA team practices at the Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Midget age levels. This opportunity has been very generously sponsored by the Larry Reid Memorial Fund. This fund has been recently created by a group of Innisfail Minor Hockey alumni from the early 60's who were coached by Larry Reid. The fund is designated for coach development within IMHA.
Skill development is the backbone of all hockey players and Erik has emerged as the premier skills coach in Central Alberta. The vision of this development opportunity is to get our Head and Assistant coaches out to some practices where Erik will run an age appropriate skills practice using the most current and proven techniques and drills. It gives us coaches a chance to learn some new drills and the knowhow to teach these skills for developing our young athletes to their potential. We are going to host a total of four practices over a two day period. Atom coaches will attend the chosen Atom skills practice, Peewee coaches will attend the chosen Peewee practice, Bantam coaches will attend the chosen Bantam practice, Midget coaches will attend the chosen Midget practice. If for some reason you cannot attend the practice designed for your age group, you are welcome to jump in on another age group practice.
These practice clinics are not optional for our coaches. IMHA is making it compulsory for all coaches to attend. A minimum of two coaches per team will be required to attend but is recommended that all team coaches attend if possible. The more coaches we have with the skills learned from these clinics the better off our player development will be. Also, if you would like to attend multiple sessions you are welcome. Atom
Wednesday Jan 10 5:45pm-6:45pm. Arrive at 5:15pm for practice plan review and discussion.
Peewee
Wednesday Jan 10 7:15pm-8:15pm. Arrive at 6:45pm for practice plan review and discussion.
Bantam
Thursday Jan 11 8:30pm-9:30pm. Arrive at 8:00pm for practice plan review and discussion.
Midget
Thursday Jan 11 9:45pm-10:45pm. Arrive at 9:30pm for practice plan review and discussion.
